Frederick William Evans
« on: Monday 23 June 14 21:02 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help me. I have Frederick William Evans living with his grandfather in 1891 in Toddington, Bedfordshire but cannot find him in the 1891 census and therefore cannot identify his father and cannot find him after 1891, although I have a Frederick William joining the army in 1896. Can anybody help me identify him?

Many thanks

Think you mean the 1881 census

When and where was he born?

You are right, I meant to say cannot find him in 1881 census. He was 14 in 1891, so born 1877/1878 in a Toddington

But cannot find his birth or what happened to him, not certain it was in re the army in 1896.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Mark

Yeah I saw that, but it is definitely listed as Frederick William in 1891 and this the was 14, so concluded that it was not him. Not sure.

Cheers

His army papers state that his parents were William & Mary Evans of Luton Road, Toddington and that he had 4 brothers and 4 sisters; Henry, David, Samuel, George, Emily, Sarah, Martha & Elizabeth.

He died in South Africa in the Boer War on 14 Feb 1902

Bedfordshire Boy

Thanks, he is living with a William Evans in 1891 and lists him as his grandson so am confused not his father. The other names you mention are listed as children of William & Mary.

You refer to his military papers, where are those listed to get the information you found - does it say where he died etc. in Boar War.

Could he have lied re father etc. on military papers as census of 1891 does contradict it

Thanks for all this help
