James Sexton Everett b.185?
« on: Friday 25 July 14 11:29 BST (UK) »
Having trouble tracing James Sexton Everett (sometimes spelled Everitt and often with the Sexton middle name omitted). I have him married to Ellen Summons Hindley (at St Saviours,Southwark in 1880) and living in Normanton,Derbyshire in the 1880s and several baptisms are registered there.
I would like to know his parents and siblings. I believe he was born in Essex around 1853 but drawing a blank so far.

Many thanks.

I can't see any James Everett born in Essex but living in Derbyshire in any census record; what makes you think her was born there?
It seems a strange pattern of migration; Essex to London to Derbyshire.

You might be better trying to get the marriage certificate to get information on the parents as you have the correct date

He seems to have moved around quite a lot and was in Derbyshire between the 1881 and 1891 censuses. There are 3 births registered in St Chad, Normanton to a James Sexton and Ellen Summons Everett and the middle names are so unusual they have to be the right couple. He was in Bedfordshire in and after 1891 and these have him born in Elmstead around 1854.
On FreeBMD there are 2 James Everett's born around that time and place but neither have the Sexton middle name.
The marriage shows up on FamilySearch.org but parents not listed.

1881 census gives p.o.b. as Elmstead Essex (names mistranscribed)

Marriage witnesses were H ? Everitt & Emily Everitt

do you require full details of marriage?

Where were they in the 1881 census and under what variation of the surname?
