I've UK membership too but when I tried a few searches against other countries, just kept coming up with transcriptions rather than original records so gave up.  I think ancestry probably still has by far the most non UK records.  I wouldn't pay the extra, although still quite a lot cheaper, to go worldwide with FindMyPast.  The only set I was really interested in is still offline unfortunately but I've quite a few free credits which I will use when they finally re-appear. ;)

I am also a UK member and tried the Australian site and couldn't find anything of interest which is odd as I know I have some relatives over there as I have found them on similar records before via Ancestry.

Well it seem's that I am not the only one who found FindMyPast a waste of time,

I only found the worldwide records of not much use, I have had, and continue to have, a UK subscription because they have record sets I need for my research.  Not every site can have all records and it very much depends on where you are researching as to whether a particular site is of any use.  As I have ancestors in many counties, I need access to both sites. ;)

UK records on FindMyPast have been of great use to me so even though it's complicated I have found images not on Ancestry.
I also found Three army records dating mid 1800 s for a friend which were very clear to read and very informative .

I didn't bother persisting, but what I was hoping to find were some Scottish census transcriptions, but couldn't even find out where they were hiding. Gave up before I'd started. Was feeling lazy and not up to the challenge .... ::)

Scotland is just another "kettle of fish" as we all know. ;)

I have a recently-discovered relative who has been so helpful to me. She regularly visits the archives and instantly let's me know what she has found. I am so glad we found each other as she's unbelievably helpful.

So lucky!

Judy

P.S. She has helped other distant relatives too.
