In the Clinton, Indiana Daily Clintonian from 2 Oct. 1914, it says "More complaints are reported in the family circles of Stephen Shull and his wife."  Apparently, Flora's mother-in-law alleged that Flora called her names & threw a large rock at her and Flora's father Joshua made some remarks that were not proper.  Flora was arrested on a charge of provoke, and Joshua was arrested for using vile and obscene language.

In the same paper from 30 Jan. 1915, it says Stephen & Flora's divorce was granted.  The plaintiff Stephen was ordered to pay $4.50 a month for the unborn child from date of birth.

It looks like Stephen divorced a woman named Goldie in 1913.

Great finds - Crumbs - quite an eventful family Shelly  ;) Poster will be amazed when they return.

This was a marriage of Savannah Shull  (born 15 August 1910) - daughter of Stephen and Golda Cobb.

Clinton Clintonian June 2, 1920 - "Joshua Parrish of Shepherdsville has gone to Alma, Mich. to visit his daughter, Mrs. Flora Bender.  He hopes to get on to Ottawa to see his friend Hon. Mackenzie King, leader of the opposition in the Dominion house of commons."

More marriage intrigue from the Daily Clintonian September 30, 1914 - Steven D. Shull, a grocery clerk of this city, was arrested on a warrant sworn out by his wife for desertion.  It said the couple had not lived together for more than 2 years and Mr. Shull brought an action for divorce about two years ago, but the case was never tried.  It says he began the action again two days ago and a summons was served on his wife.

There are articles from 1913 that said Goldie deserted Steven.  It sounds from this article like their divorce wasn't final by the time that Steven married Flora.   :-\

Stephen D. Shull obit can be seen somewhat by scrolling to the bottom of this page - http://www.newspapers.com/newspage/12227856/
