Hi Everyone,
I have been revisiting my records for the marriages of my uncles Arthur and Henney. Arthur's wife Florrie is relatively easy to trace. She was born in Ashton under Lyne. Her father was John William Caldecott and her sister and brother are listed on the 1911 census. A number of other siblings were born after 1911 but I have not been able to find Dorothy Caldecott among them. Florrie's mother was Mary Ann Harper, who William John married in 1881 in Patricroft. I have now discounted the later marriage of  Dorothy to  Donohue. There is a possibility that Dorothy was not a Caldecott by birth. Was she a) adopted or b) a widow. Until the marriage certificate of Henney and Dorothy is examined her parentage cannot be certain. There appears to be no birth certificate for a Dorothy Caldecott that fits.

Florrie's mother was Mary Ann Harper, who William John married in 1881 in Patricroft.

It is not likely that a couple married in 1881 would have a child (Florrie) in 1916 and does not fit with the census records.  There is no such marriage that I can see.

Thanks Debra....Sorry, I am having a senior moment. The 1881 marriage is John William's father William Caldecott to Mary Ann Davies. John William married in 1906 Florence Amelia Harper in Ashton under Lyne.

The other children of John William and Florence Amelia are: Thomas (1912-1971), Jack (1914-1969) and Walter (1918-1918) all born in Ashton under Lyne.

On 1911 census, John William and Florence Amelia have two children. Can anyone find the birth registration of the two month old daughter under the name recorded on the census?
But there is a Dora reg Q4 1910 in Ashton district. And I can't find Dora on 1911 census.

So is the two month old daughter really Dora / Dorothy?

Forget that!
I've found Dora, different family and moved to a different county in 1911.

I think the census record seems to say 2 months but is in fact referring to Martha Ann who is two years old and was born in 1908. Martha Ann married James Oliver in 1931.  I have been looking at spelling variations of Caldecott in the hope that might move us forward. My most likely find in that area is: Coldicott  Dorothy E  mother: Horne  Shipston  6d 1305 Dec 1925.
