thanks Sandra. It looks like Edward survived his wife and their children born around the 1940s

A little perplexed by that statement   ??? - As far as I can tell - those 3 children are still living. First child was born 1948, so the other 2 in the fifties probably.

Sorry I meant he lived longer than his wife, he was the informant on her certificate  :-\

Reading the interview, it looks like Albert's uncle was killed in a mine, have no idea whom it is though.

You are mostly likely right, since I have looked over my notes and I cannot find a Steele in his branch of the family that perished in a mine.
