Christopher Marshall was born 1761 in Selby to William Marshall (Tanner).  He married 1790 in Doncaster to Elizabeth Holmes. (she died 1790).  Christopher died 1800 and his father William died 1810.  It looks as though William was born 1728 Selby  and married Ann Ingham in Kellington 1754

Just to add to the mix a very wildcard.  The following has been purely based on the 1764 advert selling the tannery together with the Clark/Thompson (Brotherton) marriage and business connections.

Foster Thompson (mentioned in 1764 advert died 1776 at Brotherton. Probate details

Prerogative Court of York
Document type   Will
Document reference   vol.120, f.203
Index reference   1771011777060224.tif/13

"
In 1761 a Sarah Thompson marries a John Hood in "Pontefract".  There is a burial for a Sarah Hood wife of John Hood 1797 Knottingley.  Yet to find if any off-springs,  Burial of a John Hood Waterman Knottingley 1822

William Holmes Marshall bapt 7 Aug 1791 father Christopher - mother Elizabeth Selby
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

No birth for Jane Marshall transcribed.  Scrolled through images (very difficult to read) but  the registers do not give father's occupation for anyone.

There are loads of John Marshall bond allegations pre 1738 in York (parish & vocation) and a day out to Borthwick next year. Bradford library hold the transcribed bond allegations index books with parishes (Pickering) on and so that will help refine.
