llanelly- Rebecca Fanny Lowe, b. 1888, no birth cert.

I am new to the forum.
I am researching my maternal grandmother:
Rebecca Fanny Lowe. Llanelly, Wales.
I calculate the date of birth approx. 1888. (UK Census docs.)
She repeatedly listed Llanelly, Wales as the place of birth on travel and immi. docs. and listed herself as a Welsh language native speaker.
She appears in the UK 1901 and 1911 Census before her emigration to Canada and eventually the USA.
In one travel doc she lists a possible sister: Mrs. Eid?? Williams, of Cumlynfell, Wales.
I can find no birth cert. for Rebecca. Could she have lived or have been birthed in the Workhouse?
Also, she spent her life in service from an early age. I would dearly like to do her justice!

In 1901 She is living in Weybridge, Surrey with William R Seborn and his wife Ede. Ruth.  She is listed as their niece

Ede Ruth was born in Oxfordshire

Just for the record there is a baptism of an Eed Lowe in LLanelly 1st December 1885 parents Frederick & Mary    Maybe this is her sister

There is a birth registration around the right time but it is in Kent

Wow! Fantastic! That must be a speed record as well!
I have the 1901 info and there is a good "Lowe Edwards" Family Tree on Ancestry.com. Since Rebecca is listed a "niece" to the Seaborns (1901)  I figured that she must be a daughter of one of Ede Ruth Seaborn''s siblings. Probably a brother or sister (out of wedlock?).

I'll work on the Eed Lowe info for Llanelly, and her parents, that is very exciting.

Can you please tell me the source of the baptismal info for Eed Lowe, Llanelly, Dec. 1, 1885? I am not getting anything close to that online (ancestry.com). Is this an unpublished source? Church record, etc.? Many thanks!

I can't see anything regarding Rebecca Fanny before 1901. I see that Ede Ruth Lowe had a sister of that name.  Does R.F give any information on her father when she marries.

One of the Ancestry trees has a brother Frederick for Ede Ruth. I can't see him after 1871 when he is a Butchers servant.  The fathers occupation on the christening was Butcher.

Please resolve my confusion re the spellings of Llanelly/Llanelli. I see the larger LLanelli on current maps. Also, I see the small village near Abergivenny in the hills. Which one are we concerned with in 1888? Thanks.

I have seen the other persons you reference, the brother Fred (also there is another bro. in the Army).

Re: the other Rebecca Fanny Lowe. Very confusing. The other Rebecca has different dates and dies in 1948 in the UK.

My Rebecca Fanny Lowe was younger (but no birth cert!) and died in San Diego Approx. 1929 (my grandmother). However, I have no real proof of the UK chain of births and other dates. I do have gov. docs for the US trail. I sent and inquiry to the person that constructed the excellent "Lowe Edwards Family Tree" on Ancestry.com and am waiting for a reply to help resolve this, if possible (if she knows).
