In a London newspaper, under the title ,'long lost relatives' I direct quote;
Hinds (Edward) with his son went to New York in March 1889; last heard of in St. John's town. Cecilia Hinds inquires.
Johnstown in New York State (as per link in my previous post) used to be called John's Town.
I have been told that the entire family of Edward Hinds died in the Johnstown floods.
This is untrue, only Edward and his son go missing. The rest of the family continued to live in London.
The son appears to have settled in Virginia, marrying a Tina Ferguson. There are some ancestry trees reflecting this although the couple do not appear to have had children.
So what happened to Edward? Did he do a disappearing act or did he drown in a flood in Johnstown NY? There is a flood in July of that year in which approximately 20 people died, hence my interest!
