I've just found an interesting record for a Robert Atkinson, Gardner Street, Lwr, Dublin in 1848 - The William Smith O'Brien Petition 1848-49.

Will investigate further.

A snippet - just found Julia's baptism in Devon records - Christ Church, Plymouth
Baptised as Frances Julia Hall. Born 5 July 1875, Baptised 14 June 1876.  Also in Eng and Wales, Reg Q3, 1875, Plymouth.

Mother was  Elizabeth Sarah.  Father -Robert,a surgeon, RN. Living 9 Westbury Terrace

Just found another Robert Atkinson, surgeon, who is roughly the same age as 'my' Robert Atkinson, but whose father is named George. He married in Ballina, Co. Mayo in 1863.

Mark Leonard's mother's maiden name was Tustian on his GRO birth record 1862, Brecknock. So will need to search for another aunt - it could be on Kate's side.
