Were these baptisms from Lancashire OPC also their children?
1819 Jane, abode Barter St. & 1821 James, abode Garden St.?  Occupation of father was carter.
John Pilson of Barter St. who married in 1816  was also a carter.
Richard Pilson, another carter was a contemporary.

Baptisms at St. Nicholas, Liverpool:
1790 John, son of Richard & Margaret
1792 Richard, son of Richard & Margaret
1795 James, son of Richard & Margaret (formerly Jones), (seniority 4)
1798 Richard, son of Richard & Margaret, (seniority 5)
Abode for all 4  sons was Vernon St. Occupation of Richard for all except 2nd Richard was carter.

Other Pilson entries in register included 1804 burial of Thomas, another carter.

Births of James Pilson and Margaret Michael were too early for birth certificates.
Date of birth was written on some baptismal entries.

Did you find them on census?

It looks like the family were Catholics and I can't see Catholic baptisms before 1813 online.

I found the names of James & Margaret on Ellens baptism record in 1835.

I then came across the marriage date of James & Margaret on a geneology site but cant seem to find details of their parents. Mind you I didnt realise that they were too early for birth certs so thanks for the tip.

The only census record with James, Margaret & Ellen is 1841.

Also I cant find Ellen or her siblings in the 1851 or 1861 census.
Is it possible that if the parents died before the 1851 census that the kids may have gone into a workhouse and perhaps census records were not taken ?  I wonder where theyve gone albeit I can see some of the marriage details on a website.
