Maria Tonks - Walsall

Maria Tonks was born in 1849 in Walsall. Her parents were John Tonks and Mary Ann Kettledon.
In 1861 she lived with her grandmother Maria Kettledon in Walsall.
I am looking for some information about Maria Tonks after 1861?

In 1871 Maria was a domestic servant in the household of Thomas Whitehouse, wheelwright, Tantarra (can't read number), Walsall.

thank you for your information. Is it possible to have a look in 1891 and 1901? I suppose Maria Tonks has married Mr. Whitehouse.  In 1881  William Whitehouse is named as grandson of Maria Kettledon, grandmother of Maria Tonks.

I think Thomas Whitehouse is a relation of Maria's since they are all living in the same house in 1861 - including George Whitehouse. Perhaps Mrs Whitehouse (Emma) is Maria's sister.

Does your information Sept. q. 1849 mean quarter - which includes the months July to September?
I am a beginner in english ancestry, I am an Austrian with english roots!

I am a bit confused about Emma Whitehouse, so far up to now I have never heard of a sister called Emma.
In 1861 Maria Tonks lived with her grandmother Maria Kettledon.
In 1881 William Whitehouse, born 1861 in Walsall, lived with Maria Kettledon.

At the moment I don`t know how to find the right trace.

Hi Christina,

I'm sorry, I've been going round and round on this one, and all I've succeeded in doing is getting myself thoroughly confused.

I found the IGI entry, which is where I presume you got the baptism date, and tried to find a John Tonks marriage with a Mary Ann, with no success. There are virtually no Kettledons of the right era registered for anything!

Yes, on the face of it Emma could be Maria's aunt (nee Kettledon?) since both Maria and William (Emma's son) are said to be grandchildren of old Maria. Maria does seem to be a bit of an orphan, though, and it is possible there is a more complicated relationship than that.

Anyway, here are the (vaguely) relevant entries I have found. Sorry, I've lost the exact addresses - all in Walsall.

Emma Whitehouse is indeed a daughter to Maria Kettledon. I found her christening - 15.04.1838 Walsall.
So Maria Tonks and William Whitehouse are both grandchildren to Maria Kettledon.
Maria Tonks is not an orphan at all. Her parents John Tonks and Mary Ann Kettledon had
at least 10 children. I don't know why she had lived with her grandmother.

Is it possible for you to give me the details about the family Whitehouse in 1871?
