ancestry trace
« on: Wednesday 25 July 18 17:21 BST (UK) »
Am trying to find any information on a Jeremiah Merrick born in Ballygriffin, Co Tipperary in 1888 and who was in Dublin in 1911 studying at Marlborough Street college.  He married a Mary Whelan in 1932 in Tipperary and died in 1958 in Ballinahinch cashel.

Welcome to Rootschat

Have you looked for him on the 1901 Irish census to establish his parentage or are you looking for post 1932 information?

Hi
thanks for reply
We have all the parentage and census information for him.  He is believed to be our maternal great-grandfather but would appear never married the mother and baby born out of wedlock.    His name appears on our grandmother's marriage certificate and we are trying to trace her birth records.  No official record anywhere.  We know her name and year of birth but that's it.  We know she was Irish

and we are trying to trace her birth records

As long as your grandmother is deceased it's ok to post details of her - name/date of birth etc.

Did she marry as Merrick?  If she was illegitimate her birth is possibly registered under her mothers surname

She married as Merrick but we have no way of finding her mother's surname unless someone on the Merrick line knows anything!

What is on Marriage Cert?  How old was she?
