Have you looked on the 1939 register to see what date of birth she gives?

yes that is her.  Dont think i am going to find out anymore hence trying to find members of merrick/whelan family who may remember something

she doesn't appear anywhere on 1939 census.  She gave birth in 1938 and her daughter was Ann Waddoup.  She didn't marry til 1940.  She gave the name Waddoup but never married the father Thomas!

We rootschatters do not give up easily  ;D ;D.....the date of birth on death certificate may not be true as it will only be what the informant knew or was told.

Trust me i am close to giving up!! :-[  1913 pans out with all other certificates that we hold for her in terms of her age.  She wasn't born in liverpool we know that.

As far as I know, she would only have had to produce a birth certificate for a passport. She may have had a baptism certificate which was adequate for any other purpose. She would not have needed one for marriage, the registrar takes the inofrmation he/she is given.

yes i also think there may be a baptism certificate somewhere in ireland but without the mothers details I dont know how to search.
