Help to find my Dad please, Peterhead

I have been trying to find out about my Dad’s younger years for as long as I can remember.
Yesterday on another thread someone found him living in St Andrew Street Peterhead on an electoral
Role of 1935 with his mum, Hetty and step dad Arthur. I had never found him as he was always known by his birth name West to my knowledge. However it seems he took his step dad’s name of Lisburne at this time of his life.
I always thought they lived in Plymouth and my dad went to college in Scotland, now I have found out they all lived there. But why? Plymouth is a very long way from there.
How can I find out more? Is there any way to find out why and how long they lived there  and where my dad went to school?
His step dad was back in Plymouth on the 1939 register, but he and his mum were not on the register.
His full name was William Arthur John West aka Lisburne b 1914. Mum Hetty Lisburne step dad Arthur Lisburne.

Sorry don’t know how to, and it was only one relevant post stating that the family were in the 1935 electoral roll for 22 St Andrew Street

his parents were Hettie and William.
The background is this: born Falmouth 25/02/1914, father killed WW1,
mother Hettie remarries Arthur Lisburne, formerly Flatman,
may have been a bigamous marriage as Arthur changed his name and escaped a marriage to a Daisy Neal in Croydon 1908

He was born in 1914 in Falmouth and died in 1961 in Plymouth
