Robert James 1799 to 1882

Hi ,
I am looking for any information regarding Robert James  parents. I know he was born 1799 approx to 1882 . He lived in Charlton near Malmesbury and married Mary Stoneham in Garsdon Wiltshire .

Marriage   
25 November 1820 at Garsdon Wilts., Robert James and Mary Stoneham, made their mark
Witnesses Daniel Wegmore, James Sanford/Samford, signed
Later entries the name could be James Sampson.
Burial
6 December 1882 age 85 abode Union Workhouse at Charlton.
most likely in the hospital as he was living with family in 1881.


Re: marriages the next entry on the page is for Joseph Stonham married Sarah Hitchins of Lea, by banns, 13 November 1821 witnesses are Thomas Stonham and Jane Stonham, all made their mark.

1871 and 1881 census he says he was born Calne Wiltshire.

1861 says born Seend

Hi , thanks for the quick replys, and for the information.
Malmesbury is less than 3 miles from Charlton
Is that where Robert James 1797 was baptised?

 Yeah. On previous census he stated as being from Seend , poulshot and Calne .
Seems he was born in Wiltshire somewhere 🙂🙂

I think he had a sister Mary James who married Peter Moore 2 May 1816 at Calne.

1841 census
Mary Moore 40  ages rounded down
Peter Moore 40  ditto
Elizabeth Moore 20
Robert Moore 18
*Thomas James 20

This Thomas could be the son of Robert and Mary James baptized 3 November 1822 at Garsdon

who is not with his parents in 1841 staying with his aunt and uncle.
