Mary Phillips 1806-1876
« on: Sunday 03 February 19 12:19 GMT (UK) »
Please can you help.   Mary Phillips 1806-1881 is my 3xggrandmother, married to Richard Reynolds, both  Lanivet Cornwall.
Her father is the problem. Is it

Samuel Phillips born 6 Aug 1781 St Stephens in Brannel
               Or
Samuel Phillips born 14 Aug 1781 Lanivet.

There are also members on ancestry who have her father as William Phillips.

        Thank you

Where do you get that her father was Samuel  :-\

Baptisms in Lanivet have 1806 parents Samuel & Mary or 1807 parents William & Mary

I was given Mary and Richard Reynolds marriage on Ancestry hints, where Mary 's surname was given as Phillips.

I then used Freereg to search for Mary Phillips, which gave me the two Samuel Phillips.

CornwallOPC has the 2 baptisms I listed but she could be either of them unless you have eliminated the one born to William & Mary.  Did she name a child Samuel  :-\

Where are the family on census

Apologies I have replied but it has not appeared.

     1861 surname Runnels. Tarbell Green

      1871 surname Reynolds Lanivet
Jane not found a son Samuel as yet.

    1851 census
Mary would be 47 could be either parents married young or perhaps brother and sister.
1841 sounds equally promising with Elizabeth. Does it state if Elizabeth is
A daughter , granddaughter or niece?

I know it is not good to assume but on Mary and Richard Reynolds marriage on Free Reg, the witnesses are Thomas and Joseph Wendon.

Could it be that Mary Reynolds mother could be Mary Wendon, who married Samuel Phillips 1805 in Lanivet. Their first child would then be Mary.

Or is that too much a leap of faith.

That wouldn't really find the 'real' Samuel Phillips.😱
