I notice that brother Hugh is probably in the 1871 with mother in law listed as Bridget McGarigall ?

I think the enumerators had almost as much difficulty with these folk as I am having :-)
She was actually Bridget Reynolds, mother of Hugh's wife Elizabeth and Patrick's (the double entered man in 1861) wife Margaret. Bridget's maiden name was Byrne/Burn/Burns. I have her marriage record from the RC registers in Roscommon to George Reynolds who was named as the father on both girls' marriages. She is with Elizabeth in 1861 and listed as a widow
Further complication is that she is listed as Bridget Gilroy , Hugh's mother in law in 1881.
I have yet to fathom out when and where she may have married a Mr Gilroy, but as she is listed as a widow it would seem that he too predeceased her.
Her burial record from Gateshead East Cemetery shows her as Bridget Gilroy, widow of Henry Gilroy and her address was that of Hugh and his family.
The good news is that I think I have finally sussed which children with a MMN of Reynolds and a surname that is a variation of McGarrighal belong to Hugh and Elizabeth and which belong to Patrick and Margaret - but its taken a while!
I'll get there eventually, though 'there' may yet turn out to be a padded room :-)
