Does anybody have any information about the family of Leah Flitter, b1833, who married Joseph Ranscombe in 1853 in Bray?

Have you found her in censuses before her marriage?

What do the censuses after marriage tell you as to her birthplace?

Do you have her paternal details, witness names (etc) from her marriage registration?

I see that as “Lear Fritter” aged 7 she is in Bray in 1841, semi-attached to the household of Frederick and Charlotte Johnson. “Lear” is enumerated as not born in the county of Berkshire, consistent with the 1861 census for her as Leah Rancomb, 27 b Lambeth Surrey.

Other censuses for Leah show her born in Bray - an understandable mistake if she was there from an early age.

Going by the GRO Births it looks as though Fred JOHNSON's wife was a FLITTER.

The Johnsons are still in Bray in 1851 (as Frederick and Caroline*), but Leah is not in the household.

Possibly (from Familysearch) Charlotte was baptised in Warfield, Berks 28 Dec 1806 to John “Futler” & Mary, as transcribed.

Sister: Leah “Fritter”, bapt 04 Aug 1811 Warfield to John & Mary.  Married as Leah Flitter to George Johnson in 1838 (Windsor) and later shows as Leah Johnson b Warfield.

Also bapt to John & Mary in Warfield: George “Tritter” 14 Nov 1802; Ann “Frither” 4 Nov 1804.
