Unfortunately neither bride nor groom appears in the 1891 census at the address cited on their marriage later that year (respectively 1 and 4 Smith's Place, Bethnal Green).

Ref for those addresses: RG12/257/89/42.

I now think the 'Arthur George Duffield' track is a red herring. The 1911 census has him down as George C Duffield.

"Georg e", not George C.

Personally I think it would be a mistake to discard this line of enquiry.

Oh! I can't give up any 'live' track at the moment - now 2 yrs (almost every day) since I started looking for Alice.

The Duffield track still fits in many ways with the previous records - its just the 'Hodson' link that is sending me crazy!

I've not used DNA yet. Do you think it gives good a high percentage of matches?

I am a recent recruit to Ancestry DNA and have been impressed by the quality of matches confirming my research up to 6, 7, 8 generations back.  But then I do have a huge tree so the computer has plenty to work with!

The use of an alias is really not that unusual a find in family history.
