Nursing Home Hawthorn Victoria
« on: Friday 28 June 19 08:12 BST (UK) »
I have a relative who just prior to his death listed his address in 1956 as Strathern Hover Street Hawthorn Victoria.  Can anybody confirm whether this was a Nursing Home/Hospice.

May I ask, was it a typed address or handwritten?

Hi Sue

It formed part of an Email from a relative who is an Historian as a profession so I would suspect it would be correct.

Here it is:-
Also, I have found a reference that I made on my last visit to Melbourne and did not follow up - details of the will of William Isaac as follows:

William Isaac Dowsett, formerly of "Strathern", Hover St., Hawthorn.  But late [of] the Melbourne Home and Hospital for the Aged, Warrigal Road, Cheltenham.

I have applied for a copy of the will today so will be able to confirm by next Tuesday hopefully.
