Thus far we have found family links which started in Barcaster Norfolk, with a Thomas William James Cook Neale. Yes my maternal grandfathers paternal family are well know for having three or four Christian names. The only similarity he has with captain james cook are the middle names and maritime. (Merchant Sailor) we have traced TWJC Neale to Sunderland then Northumberland where he ended up in the  Northumberland county lunatic assylum in 1886. From there our trail moved to the castle ward in Northumberland. His surname changing from Neale, to neal then to neil. If anyone can support us with tracing what happened to our once master mariner. I would be grateful.

When was he born?

Do all the records you have use all the forenames or is he commonly called just one of them? if so, which?

What is the last date you have him?

Have you ruled out the 1898 Castle Ward death of Thomas Neil age 62?

Born ca.1837 Brancaster, I can only find him with family 1841 and 1851 and then in 1881 in the lunatic asylum.  His status then 'unknown', occupation Sailor.

I am looking for an Edward Neale, who left Norfolkshire for America in the late 1800's..He was probably apprenticed to a carpenter or cabinet maker.  He was born in Hickling.
