German handwriting
« on: Tuesday 26 November 19 08:28 GMT (UK) »
Is there any one that can translate German handwriting ? I have four documents that need translating, two are births or baptisms, another is a death doc and the last is a marriage. Ancestry only gives  names and dates but there is so much more information on the documents.

Hi,

Several of us on RootsChat can help with that.

Please upload good scans of the docs and we'll do our best.   :)

Best regards,
Karen

I had to snip the next lot of documents for they were to big to upload.

This one is for Bruno Husemeyer but I do not know what the word in front of Bruno is, is it another name or title? and the rest there are one or two names I can make out, Otto Husemeyer is he the father? And is this a birth registration ? I see Berlin at the bottom of page.

And finally, this is a death record, had to split it in half as well.

Thanks to all you will try to translate the docs.

Hi,

It's been a long day and I'm a bit tired, but I'll see how far I can get.  :)

I can't decipher all the bits in the first one, but the gist of it is:

Otto Husemeyer, photographer, son of Otto Husemeyer, senior engineer in the Imperial Navy and his wife Auguste Friederike née Haak, of Kiel, - born July 9,1870. (Date is first in words, then then in numbers.)
9 Canterbury Terrace
and
Emilie Johanna Elwine Elisabeth Abraham, daughter of Charlotte Caroline Emilie Bockemühl née Abraham, born 29 July 1865 (date is again first in words, then numbers) in Berlin, resident at 9 Canterbury Terrace
Witnesses: (???) Max Georg Lindeman, 9 Canterbury Terrace
and Margaretha Babette Lindeman, his wife
Married on 23rd (I think!) April 1893.

This is followed by the signatures of the bride & groom and the 2 witnesses.

Best regards,
Karen
