Carol -- thank you, but I wonder how that is worked out.

Roobarb and Gadget -- thank you.

Roobarb, you were my actual inspiration to put one on and Gadget - you and I had been discussing the really unimportant and rather shallow subject about our hair!! Hence it's the fault of you 2!

Mathematical modelling, based on the R0 value, they use powerful computers to help work it out.  All infectious diseases have an Ro number and they have experts whose job it is to work all this out

See link posted by despair reply #101. I've bookmarked it but not read it yet so don't ask me to explain.
Statistics on one chart remind me of a poster from a cat welfare charity, showing number of descendants 1 female cat might theoretically have if she wasn't spayed. It was in the shape of a pyramid.

Yes, sorry from me too Carol.  I discussed this with OH but I had seen it before.  It really hits home how easy a virus of this sort can get out of hand.

The 'It's only flu' brigade are really starting to annoy me.  I have to admit I was in that group a few weeks ago but I recovered.  People should be doing as advised or it will be a lot worse than it needs to be.

Thank you for making this a separate thread.

People are now travelling to The Highlands in caravans to 'escape' thus probably spreading the virus

Great!!

I think we all should think about what we are going to wear.  We seem to be in 70's mode so how about some flares and tank-tops?

Well today Morris sides all over the world took part in the #lonemorrisfestival so maybe that could supply some of the music and dancing. Here's a sample
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYv3LeOc5pI&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR39E6XwV214Ct93tXar9-OXl9mt2k5qfdXrdCw5Iq4FxoLkfYM_HoKomaU

;D I could have joined in. My old costume and bells might be hidden away somewhere.
I was going to do morris dancing if I'd waited longer at hospital yesterday - I had plenty of clean hankies to wave. I've forgotten the steps though and the dances are too strenuous for me now.

That is bad JenB.  Perhaps they should just send them back home.

I am supposed to be going to Scotland in June ... no way   ::)
