Mother's Birth place puzzle

I have a query regarding my late Mother's birthplace. Hoping someone can shed light on this?. Mum was Patricia Roberts born 2nd June 1934. Now on her Birth certificate it states she was born at Willow Bank 20 Stanley street , Ormskirk , Lancs. Fair enough however , in the signature and residence of informant column , it gives Emily Roberts as the Mother , and her Address was in Southport??. this home Address is not  Willow Bank ?? . "So why would my Mum be born here?". If anyone could help i would appreciate this . My Mum never spoke much about her early years , and i am curious about this mystery. Thanks.

I think if you can investigate the address at which your mother was born, it may well turn out to be a home for unwed mother's or something similar.  I see from the birth registration that your mother would have been illegitimate as her mother's maiden name is the same.

Maybe her mother was just visiting someone at the house when she went into labour.  The certificate is showing the place the baby was born and her mothers usual residence. 

Have you checked to see if it was being used as a nursing home around that time.  I see it is still called Willowbank

The same surname could result from Miss Roberts  marrying Mr Roberts.

My birth certificate - 1942 - shows two different addresses.  One where I was born, and the other the address of my parents.

I know that I was born in a nursing home.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Willow Bank had previously been a dental surgery, according to a 1914 notice in the Ormskirk Advertiser.

Presumably it was a maternity home by 1934.
