Someone has a Sarah Drake born 1803 Hamilton Wentworth Ontario  married to a Moses Kitchen born 1799 New Jersey.  Sadly this Sarah Drake/Kitchen died in 1833
Moses remarried to a Hannah Hudson - they were in Caradoc Canada in 1851

Sandra

Thank you Sandra for these obituaries.

Moses remarried to a Hannah Hudson - they were in Caradoc Canada in 1851 - we have her down as marrying a Hannah 1819-, wonder if this is one of the same?
But also marrying Jane Hudson - her sister perhaps?

I have been giving this some thought, of thinking of how to find the marriage details of Mary Ann Van Alstein.
Could these be through researching the Van Alstein family trees?
As their records may be more accurate in providing a date and location, when this marriage took place.

Michigan Marriage Records Marriage records were kept in most counties from the date the county was created. Statewide registration began in 1867. Just your luck finding an ancestry tree which is sourced with the correct information.
Did wonder if the 1860 showed her mother "Elizabeth Vanal" ?

Emmett, St Clair, Michigan 1860 (Inhabitants of this township were mostly new settlers as per the note on the image.)

Thomas Kitchen   27 born Canada.
Mary A Kitchen   21 born Canada.
Lodreman Kitchen 4 born Michigan.
Moses C Kitchen   2 born Michigan.
Elisabeth Vanal   59 born Canada.

I can add to this, sent to me previously:

I did find at the Mount Pleasant cemetery in Wales Township, MI:
Family Members
Parents: Thomas Kitchen 1828-1901 Mary Ann Van Alstein Kitchen 1839-1928
Siblings: Moses C, Kitchen 1859-1929
Cyrenious Kitchen 1865-1933
Half Siblings: Lodema Kitchen Olsen 1856-1933
Wesley Kitchen 1861-1920
Lophela Kitchen Webb 1868-1902

This must be the Thomas Kitchen and Mary Kitchen listed in the 1925 History of the East Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church, along with Andrew and Matilda.
The Andrew Kitchen I had found was born Nov. 27, 1871 in Riley, Clinton County, Michigan and died 1938. I think he was descendent of Thomas and Mary Ann Van Alstein Kitchen.

Okay so we are looking at a Thomas Kitchen born Canada about 1833-.
I don't have an entry on our Tree to date that I can match him with.
However I do have masses of Kitchens that could have been his Father.

Thomas's wife's Mother, his (Mother-in-law) is Elisabeth Vanal 59, this could translate as Elizabeth Van Alstein born 1801.
Again to narrow down where she was born / lived, might help to give us a clue to look for what Kitchens were living in this area at the time.

Thomas Kitchen   27 born Canada.

Not quite sure what the above is telling us. You are jumbling everything that people have posted previously, all into one post which is quite confusing.

The Michigan Death Record for    Mary Anne Vanalstine Kitchen (as transcribed) 21 August 1839 (transcription says 1837 but that doesn't fit with aged of 88 years 11 months and 8 days.
Canada died 29 July 1928 Wales St Clair Michigan.
Gives parents as John Vanalstine - Mother Mary Anne Vanalstine (birth place unknown)
Informant James Olsen.

Death certificate information is only as good as the informants knowledge. Hence there is a variation now between an Elizabeth Vanal on the 1860 census who could be a possible mother of MaryAnn or the contradictory information on the death certificate that her mother was Mary Ann  ???

Fabulous photos on ancestry tree......

Okay I have given some further thought, in fact endless thought to this.
I have a theory of who his parents might be, hopefully someone can prove me wrong or right about this.

Andrew Kitchen was born in 1824-, although I cannot find his death, I can account for his two wives and many children.
The following was sent to me by Anita Labinski, president of the Memphis Historical Society:

A little interesting story- I was doing some research for another person and came across info in the 1925 "History of the East Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church" by Rev. M. DeVoist.  It listed the charter members of the Chapel Society, and I remembered the "Kitchen" name among them.

Quotes- (pg. 154) "Under the labors of Rev. C. H. Sage... several persons...were converted..."  and, "The neighborhood was situated about three miles distant, in a northeasternly direction."   Which was at Lamb Rd. and Memphis Ridge (M-19).

And, "A partial list of the charter members at the Chapel were: ...Andrew Kitchen; Matilda Kitchen; Thomas Kitchen; Mary Kitchen and others."

Back to Andrew's line on our Tree, thankfully no Thomas Kitchen currently appears.
Their parents are Henry B Kitchen 1797-1883 and Mary Drake 1806-1862.
Now even better news for the year of 1828 I have no entries of any children for them.
Either side yes, Jonathan 1827 and Ester Ann 1829.

So I think that the Thomas Kitchen that Andrew Kitchen knew down in Michigan, is indeed his brother.

Great news, somebody has found Mary Ann VanAlstein Kitchen 1839-1928 obituary:

https://www.newspapers.com/clip/47454236/obituary-for-mary-kitchen-aged-89/

So the marriage certificate I now believe will be American.

Now I have found her children as follows, however it looks as if I'm missing one:

Lodema Kitchen 1856-1933 married Oliver Olsen 1854-
Wesley Kitchen 1861-1920 married Laura May Burt 1869-1940
Moses C, Kitchen 1859-1929 married Eliza Ann 'Lydia' Vanderlip
Cyrenious Kitchen 1865-1933 married Phebe Hanks
Lophela Kitchen 1868-1902 married George Webb 1855-1923
Andrew Kitchen 1871-1938
