1770's Handwriting Deciphering John ????

can anybody decipher the beginning of the surname please on a Shropshire will around 1772
Braithwaite,Roney,Hartley,Jackson,Reed, Cumberland /Westmorland .Livesey,Hartley,Taylor,Sefton,Harrison,Knowles,Lancashire.Bottomley,Schofield,Woodhouse ,Hobson ,Norcliffe  and Hartley West Yorkshire.Bottomley Dumfrieshire and Lanarkshire.Pinder ,Warwickshire.Kisby ,Cambridgeshire

It could be Cherrington. But please post a much bigger clip, showing surrounding text for letter-comparison.

I thought that but couldn't  bring anything up .He was a servant for a George Austin of Aston Hall in Shifnal Shropshire and was named along with Benjamin Prioleau in George's will around 1772.I thought there looked like a definite "d" in the  surname.

John Merrington ? Not convinced by the "e" which looks more like a "d" - although the formation of the letters is not entirely consistent. Merrington is certainly a Shropshire name - but then so are:

Ferrington, Terrington, Berrington and Cherrington!
Clarkson, Tolladay, Prevost, Killick, Hicks

Thanks for posting a bigger snip. I still think it is Cherrington. Compare the Ch... at the start of Child in line 4 of the main body of text.

Thanks for your suggestions -will work on them manukarik and Bookbox.Benjamin Prioleau I think was a slave brought back to England from Carolina records show he had brought back 2 slaves and I was trying to see if John ????ington was the other one
