Cox Marriage
« on: Sunday 18 July 21 14:49 BST (UK) »
Request look up for the marriage of Daniel Cox born about 1803 in Codrington to Hannah born about 1802 in Cold Ashton.   In 1851 they were living in Marshfield with their family all born Marshfield - Francis born about 1836 , Daniel born about 1838 and William born about 1841.
Probable marriage in Cold Ashton before 1836.

Marriage may have been before 1826 - see my post below

Thanks Dave

Baby steps....

look at the 1841 census first.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7MQ-M3J

then look for the youngest birth registrations to get a maiden name for Hannah.

OK.   1841 census shows a number of children for Daniel and Hannah the oldest being Sarah Ann, born about 1826 so the marriage would usually be earlier than that date.
When looking for the registration of the youngest, William (shown as female in 1841), there are a number of registrations.   However, as mothers' maiden names do not appear before Sep qtr 1911 I fail to see how this can help.

Thank you Capetown very informative.   Coincidentely I am currently looking at the Cainey or Keyner family who came from Wiltshire and moved to Cold Ashton.   Project for another day will be to see if there is a link with them and Hannah Cainey.

Do you happen to have a year for Daniel and Hannah's marriage?
