This looks like Janet in 1871.

BURDON   JANET   1871      49   625/1 4/ 17   Bothwell   Lanark
Also present at same reference MARGARET 17, WILLIAM 11, ELIZA 8

Previous reference.
BURDON   ELIZA   1871      50   625/1 4/ 16   Bothwell   Lanark

Likely death for Janet, shame about the mothers maiden name!!
BURDON   JANET   59   MCCULLOCH   1881   625/1 224   Bothwell

Back to the drawing board.

Think this one might be worth viewing ties in with age and place where Janet was in 1881

I think this may rule out the death of a James Burden Blackford in 1835.

A JAMES BURDEN married ANN MALTMAN 11/08/1811 Blackford

They may have had a son JOHN there 8/03/1812 but only father named. No other children.

A JOHN BURDON died 25/06/1824 Blackford but no age.

Plus if James was the father of Janet born 1822 in Lanarkshire, it is likely he moved away from Auchteradar.

Thanks Colin and Rosie.

So I've just now found on SP, not only the Will and Testomony that Colin referenced as the Legal Document in previous post, but the actual death certificate of James Jnr (schoolmaster) and on it it lists his father James Snr Burdon (which appears to be spelt with an B...on, not en as often appears) and lists James Snr's occupation as Merchant. It also lists his James Jnr's Mother by name Margaret Burdon and notes her maiden name Dummond. (screenshot of certificate attached).

One step closer. I now know that James Snr was a Merchant. Just note sure what of.

Would you have any idea of how I could find a photo/picture of the Old Monkland school and schoolhouse that James Jnr and Elize lived in? I have tried to do a basic google seach but have not been able to definitivley locate anything, which i am not surprise given the mmore than century and half since they lived there.

Thank you again for your help.

And I've just put two and two together. Given that the death Cert. was for 1868 and both Parents James Snr and Margaret Drummond are listed as Deceased, Margaret was obviously not still alive in 1895 as a 100 year old widow.  :)
