Death certificate = entry 1936

This is a rough translation. It is quite longwinded!

1936

The thirteenth of December eighteen hundred and sixty-four at two pm, before us Deputy Mayor and registrar, assigned by the Mayor, appeared Georges Jean Guenet, sixty-three years old and Louis Pierre Leroux, forty-six years old, both warders in the Central Prison, who stated that Angelique Tetrel, midwife, wife of … Lecrosnier, forty-eight years old, born in Noirpalu (Manche), dwelling in la Haye-Pesnel (Manche) daughter of Jean Tetrel and Bonne Turgot, died, 9 rue St Hélier, yesterday evening at half past five. And the witnesses signed with us, after reading it.

I wonder what she was doing in Rennes ??? helping deliver a baby perhaps? Do you know if she was buried in Rennes?

Will have a look, but looks like she died in prison, maybe connected to the newspaper article about not reporting the birth of a child she delivered? There was certainly a woman's prison in Rennes called «Saint Hélier».

Oh, that would make sense given the prison warders who registered the death :( thank you, this is all very illuminating.

Some sort of auction? The Google Translate translation isn’t very clear.

It's a sale by tender. It looks like a fight over rights of succession, a solicitor and Notary are involved.

My eyes are going round in circles, but if you can wait a while I'll get round to completing a translation, if that would help.

Don't worry about that; the main aim of this thread was to find out where Angelique died and was buried, everything else has been a bonus.

Do have her birth and marriage Certificates? If not, I'll have a look…

Yes, luckily: born 1815, Noirpalu, married 1840, La Lucerne d'Outremer. It was just the end of her life I didn't know of. I'm sure I looked through the Coutances registers for a burial in 1864, but couldn't find anything.
