Trying to set up Yahoo! Mail, but it won’t accept my mobile number
« on: Friday 21 January 22 20:59 GMT (UK) »
Have tried three times, entering the numbers carefully, and tychecking one up, to no avail. Their system basically implies it’s wrong.  My line is from EE via ‘1p mobile.’  Any advice would be gratefully received,   :)

Gmail is, officially' my email programme, but I just had a message from Google checking that I’m the right person using it. But, I came unstuck being unable recall my password - I set it up some set it up some time ago. And, to add to the problem I no longer have that mobile.  So, that’s why I’m trying to set up a different email account.  :)

Have you tried dropping the leading zero and replacing it with 44 or +44?

If it's just a case of forgetting your Gmail password you should be able to recover that.

Alan & groom - apologies for delay in replying.

Alan have removed the 0 from my number, and ‘44’ also shows.  But I still get the same response: ‘This doesn’t look right, please re-enter your phone number’.  >:( Have also rung mobile to landline and landline to mobile and, of course, there are no problems.  Guess yahoo doesn’t want me!  ;D

groom: thanks for link - seems quite difficult - but will keep for reference.

Are you trying while you are connected to wifi rather than the data on your phone? I had problems the other day when trying to add my emails to my new phone, kept saying not recognised. I then realised I wasn't on wifi, as soon as I switched from phone data to the wifi it connected immediately.

I have been using GMX.com for many years.
It's free, and I have never had any problems.
