The above was a pharmacist in the Bristol area on the 1901 census. By the 1911 census he was a warehouseman and he died at the end of 1911. Can anyone tell me whether there are any records for pharmacists online?

The 1911 death was aged 39 so born approx 1872.  No 1901 for a Joseph A Bryant & there are only 3 entries in that birthyear range - none of whom were a pharmacist

Can you post 1901 reference please?

I have requested the death certificate to see if that throws any light on the subject. A strange assortment of occupations for a trained pharmacist!

By Googling:

Dispensary 35 East Street, Bedminster, Bristol

There is on Google Books

The Dispensaries: Healthcare for the Poor before the Nhs

and on one page....

The attendances of patients from 1 Feb to the end of September 1883 amounted to 17,917 at the dispensaries and 2, 427 at home.

In Matthews Directory of 1900, the following dispenaries were still functioning:

129 Hotwells Road, Hotwells Barton Hill, St Phillips;
177 Cheltenham Road and
35 East Street, Bedminster
-----

Further on in the article it mentions in 1911 the system changed.
