Which Regiments?
« on: Tuesday 15 November 22 13:20 GMT (UK) »
I found an entry on Fold 3 for a soldier who I know was in the Welsh Reg. No 47933. The image shows a card which says, on the left, Welsh and on the right 47933, under Welsh it has A.P.C and 4/320 and under that T.R.

My question is, does that mean he was in the Army Pay Corp and what does T.R stand for?

Thanks, Eric

There's a MIC for a Pte Hugh P Richardson in the Welsh Regiment with the number 47933. Is this the same man?

The Army Pay Corps was a separate entity.
The Roll says he was in the 1st. Btn. for the duration.

Andy..Yes that's the chap.

Jim..I picked up on that.

The reason I ask about the Pay Corp, is that I came across an old photo of an unknown soldier, some time back--presumably related to the family--and the uniform was identified as belonging to the Pay Corp.

Uniforms were the same.
Do you mean the cap badge was APC?

Yes. That's what I meant to say.

Maybe he just changed his hat on pay day ;D

Here's the Medal Index Card for 47933 Pte Hugh P Richardson Welsh Regiment. No mention of Pay Corps.
