as for the

Name: TURTON, WILLIAM  EDWARD  Mother's Maiden Surname: BOWER
GRO Reference: 1901  J Quarter in BASFORD  Volume 07B  Page 193

being Albert E Turton a guess it is possible the birth dates match up. (E is likely Edward)
It is still a mystery to me though. They did already have a William

they did already have a William

Maybe the informant - dad? - had been celebrating the birth  ;D or if another person they just got nervous and mucked it up somehow.

Name: TURTON, JOHN  THOMAS  Mother's Maiden Surname: BOWER
GRO Reference: 1903  S Quarter in BASFORD  Volume 07B  Page 221

likely related since that is the exact First, middle and last name. Yet he is not in the 1911 census so likely die young.

Ivy was born in the next year

Edith Ann Turton died 1975, Ilkeston.

It would seem that Edith Ann and William Frederick were first cousins.

Her parents being Walter Bower and Elizabeth Davis.

I found a couple John Thomas Turton's born in that district in that year. I don't know the maiden names of those other mother.
Ada had a very large family I surprised we don't have more of them. ;)

Well Edith A. last name unknown must be Williams Wife
I guess if they had children, they would still be alive... thus a secret..

Right under William in the 1939 census they have one blacked out spot for one person in the same household, so it indicated they likely had a child if anyone can find anything about that they can PM me.
