Any help with the above would be greatly appreciated.  I suck at locating ship records.  I've found info showing my 3rd GGF Thomas McNair arrived in Melbourne with his family on 8 November 1888 after departing New Zealand, possibly from Bluff.  They'd lived there since 1875 after emigrating from Scotland.  This info wasn't sourced and I'm trying to locate any record that might exist especially a passenger list and departure date.

Thank you.

McNair -  Stirlingshire and Lanarkshire, Scotland
Neilson/Frodeson/Knudsen - Norway
Salmon - London and Yorkshire, England/Tasmania, Australia

Escaped from quarantine in 1875 😀

I was looking to see if there was any sort of send off in 1888

Haha no way!  That was definitely him.  Their ship Christian McAusland arrived full of disease,  their 1 year actually died 12 days into quarantine.

Thank you for the ship info and now I have a new website to add to my list!

That was an incredibly detailed article, tysm.  After 3 months at sea this confinement must have been torturous,  especially for Thomas having lost a son 8 days prior to escaping.  Thank you again.

Slight hitch.
He is still on the electoral roll at Mataura in 1890.

From other things I have seen I have the impression they were pretty good at taking people off the roll if they weren’t eligible , ie not there.

Good catch.  I won't use the 1888 arrival then.

This is the passenger list for the Tarawera arriving 1888 with a family of McNAIR (no names, just ages)
