Help finding birth
« on: Wednesday 29 March 23 15:15 BST (UK) »
Have just come across a Ancestry match and we think our common ancestor is a Patrick J Gavan who we believe was born in 1925  (death cert) Ireland he married a Nancy Lovering in Devon England in 1952 and had four children ,  I have been told that he came from Tyrone which is in the North of Ireland and unfortunately I dont have access to northern records, if there is any kind person out there who does have access I would be very grateful  if they could have a look for him.

Births in Northern Ireland within the past 100 years (up to present day, 1923), marriages within the past 75 and deaths within the past 50 aren’t searchable on-line. They are open to the public, just not on-line.

What you need to do is, either make an appointment for GRONI’s search room in Belfast and search there (https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk) or ask them to search for the birth record for you (for a fee).

I know you are looking for Patrick's birth record but did his wife die in 1962 and Patrick remarried in 1970 and his 2nd wife died in 2020.

Thanks very much for your reply John,  yes thats the one ,  if my hunch is right his parents could be Patrick Gavan or Gavin and Mary Daly but untill I get the cert which I sent for I wont know for certain. the info I have on Patrick senior is he died in Blackwater town in the north but was born in Galway.
