Liverpool June 1886
« on: Saturday 29 April 23 10:46 BST (UK) »
I have an ancestor (Isaac Harvey) who lived in Manchester, who suffered a sudden death in Liverpool on Saturday 19 June 1886. Is anyone able to access local Newspapers of that weekend to see if there was a special event held in Liverpool at the time.

I'm curious as to what he was doing in Liverpool that weekend. I suspect he may have been on a social visit, as he appears to have been accompanied by a local Publican. So far, I'm not aware of any family in the area that he may have been visiting...but you never say never.

Thanks, Eric

Was it a sudden death following an accident or natural causes

Was the Publican the informant?
Do you have details of the death - place etc?

I can only see snippets and it looks as though there was an exhibition in Liverpool for a few months perhaps.

I can see a couple of deaths reported in July at the Liverpool Exhibition, though none for Isaac HARVEY earlier. As heywood says, perhaps he was there for the exhibition.  :-\

Modified to add:
From what I can see, the Liverpool International Exhibition of Navigation, Travelling, Commerce and Manufactures opened in May 1886. Opened by  Queen Victoria on 11 May 1886. It closed on Monday 8 Nov 1886 (with reports of a "riot").

It was a sudden death...possibly heart attack. It just says Cardiac Failure 20 minutes. He died in The Northern Hospital.

The Exhibition is a strong possibility....Jolly Boys' Outing. I think we used to call them "Morning Drives". It would probably have been quite a thing in the day.

Thanks

I can’t see a report for the Manchester area either.
Is he in Manchester in 1881?

I did have a look for his death in the Manchester Newspapers, but nothing found, which doesn't surprise me.

Probably the excitement of the day coupled with his lifestyle caught up with him.
