Irene Violet Unstead was a sister of a relatives's grandmother. Birth 3Q 1917, Bethnal Green RD, mmn Mead.
She appears to have married a Robert F Veal 2Q 1942 Hackney RD. I don't really want to buy a copy of the marriage to find out who his father was as she's not a direct line so trying to work out who he was in other ways.
There is a death of an Irene V Veal Eastbourne RD in 1985. The Probate index says she died 21st August 1985 and probate was granted 21 November that year, Brighton Registry, leaving £12,749. It says she was of 6 Hawthylands Crescent in Hailsham.
I am happy to buy a copy of the will but that isn't going to tell me who Robert F Veal was, other than potentially the name of her husband I think.
I'm not seeing any children for a Veal/Unstead marriage from 1942.
Looking for a Robert F Veal there are a surprising number of them and many of them are in the Hackney area. There are some Robert Fs and some Robert Francis'.
There is a death 4Q 1989 Eastbourne RD of a Robert Francis Veal - dob 20.12.1909 - this looks very much like the husband, given the area, of Irene above.
There is a potential Robert Veal with parents Charles and Louisa at Pedro Street in both 1911 and 1921.
But the 1939 entry for a Robert Veal dob 20.12.1909 shows him as married and a Winifred E, also married. There is a marriage 4Q 1931 Hackney RD of a RF Veal to a Winifred E Munn but I've not found a death for her before the 1942 marriage.
However the 1939 entry - see attached - has Mann and Richards also associated with Winifred.
Also if Robert dies in 1989 and Violet in 1985 how come she's left £12,749 - one might have expected any property to have been in his or joint names.
Please can anyone see anything I've missed which would suggest that which Robert F Veal Irene's husband might be?
Thanks for looking.
