I struggled too with birth regs.

1871 Joseph is born c 1837 Nottinghamshire, married with several children in Liverpool.
Sister Lucy born c 1843 Mansfield is with him.

1881 Lucy is with her sister Eliza and family.

Possible Birth Reg for Eliza;

ALLCOCK, ELIZA mmn SIMPSON 
GRO Reference: 1843  J Quarter in OF MANSFIELD UNION  Volume 15  Page 57

So they seem to have moved to Liverpool at some stage
