Have you looked for them on the 1939 register?

Dorothy died in Sussex??

Deaths Dec 1944
Dorothy May Gosling 19    Eastbourne    2b   86

Possible birth & death for John

Births Jun 1919
Gosling    John Granville mmn Davies    Merthyr T    11a   1223

1915 marriage on freebmd for parents John & Mary

Death

John Granville Gosling  83
Birth Date    18 Apr 1919
Mar 2003 Rhondda
Reg Number    2D
District and Subdistrict    864/1D
Entry Number    30

You really need to buy a copy of their marriage cert to establish the name of John's father given the spelling and the variance in places.  No Dorothy M Humphrey birth in Doncaster but there is one in Bridgend in March qtr 1924

Hi Tim
You're welcome.
I only have the ocr text at the moment, I'm afraid.
The grandfather I think is Peter George Hendley (edit!), I don't know if the text result missed out the P or not!

Burial at Heathfield, Sussex, 16 November 1944
Dorothy May Gosling
Abode 4 York Road Eastbourne
