Census Entry But Cannot Find Birth Registration
« on: Wednesday 06 September 23 20:55 BST (UK) »
I have an entry in the 1921 census which i do not want anyone to break rules about data information etc.
He is Frederick John Lomas aged 7 years and 4 months in the census and born in Aintree Liverpool.
His parents are Walker Henry Lomas and Mother Jessie Ogilvy Lomas nee Bennett.
I can't find a birth registration for Frederick anywhere.
If i can have some assistance to track him down.
Thank you

I can't see how he can be their own child.  The 1911 shows all their children b Birmingham so they must have moved there shortly after marriage.

I suspect he wasn't their own child & was born under a different surname

Thanks Carole, i was thinking adopted from a relative, the intriguing part is not being able to find a birth rego.
At least i know it isn't my incompetence causing a failure to find his details. Maybe he was a Frederick John .....someone.
Thank you again.

He died in 1934
LOMAS, FREDERICK  JOHN
Age at Death (in years): 20
GRO Reference: 1934  S Quarter in COVENTRY  Volume 06D  Page 644

Coventry and Birmingham newspapers in early September have reports of the inquest into the death of Frederick John Lomas, age 20, of 5 Frances Road, Erdington.
Road accident of some kind.

I had a similar issue. I couldn't find a birth for my great grandmother's niece Irene Bunting.

But my family let me know that my great grandmothers sister, Mrs Wood, had a baby and then got ill, so her other sister Mrs Bunting and her husband looked after the baby for her whilst she was ill. When the birth mum Mrs Wood got better, her sister was too attached to her and both agreed to let Mrs Bunting adopt the baby.

And so I had assumed the child was Irene Bunting, as I didn't know she was actually born to her sister. I was looking for a birth of an Irene Bunting, when in fact she was born and registered as Irene Wood.

It may be wise to check births for a Frederick John // using the gro index, using Walker Henry or Jessie Ogilvy's siblings surnames/married names.

Worth a try to find some results.

Hope this helps.
