Where is Fanny
« on: Monday 20 November 23 13:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I haven't posted for a while, I hope you can help me

My 2 x great grandmother was  Fanny Elizabeth Farmer
she was born on 26th December 1869 in Fletching and christened in July of the following year
Her mother was Elizabeth Farmer her father is unknown

I have found Elizabeth on the 1871 census as a servant aged 25 but there is no sign of Fanny
in 1873 Elizabeth married George Friend
in 1876 Elizabeth dies
George Friend goes on to marry Alice Steadman
Fanny is not with George in 1881
Fanny married in Feb 1891 and i can find her on the census after this and right up to her death in 1929

Fanny appears to have had a sister Harriett Amelia Farmer born in 1872 and christened in 1873 - again father unknown
1881 Harriett Amelia is with her uncle Richard Hatfield (her auntie Harriett nee Farmer was not present)
I also found Harriett Amelia in 1891 but after this i cannot find her

There was a funeral notice for Fanny Elizabeth in 1929 which mentions amongst her mourners Mrs Jefferies (Sister) and Tom Jefferies (Nephew)
I have no idea who Mrs Jefferies and Tom Jefferies are.

Hoping you can help.

Is Elizabeth Farmer the daughter of John Farmer and his wife Harriet nee Chatfield?

If so
John, Harriet and loads of children in 1851

Piece number 1640, Folio 491, Page 17
Several sisters who could have become Mrs Jefferies

I've confused  myself here - it was Fanny who had a sister called Mrs Jefferies not her mother Elizabeth

I was looking at Elizabeth's siblings to see if any of them could have been looking after her in 1871. She would only have been two and a few months.

George Friend and Elizabeth had a daughter Sarah Ann Friend in 1874, she would have been Fanny's half sister. Have you researched her?
