Thanks mckha, had to go out, glad you found that.  :)

For interest, back in Western Australia, I notice there is an item about William KEARLSEY (of Hines Hill) in 1933, losing his house in a fire - mentions his children but no wife. So Frances is with him on the electoral roll in 1931, but missing 1933.

I note also on William Carter KEARSLEY's attestation form (1941) he says he is single (not married or widowed), though his son is next of kin (changed in 1944 to his wife Jean Mavis).

Unfortunately, back in those days there were few options for widows with children. Remarrying was often the better choice.
Glad we live in better times now.

Thank you everyone for the great insight into how great the help is here,Some very useful info here but some things i can hopefully clear up is..
!.There is no registration of marriage of William Carter Kearsley to Frances ?? William is my father and my mother was Mavis Jean which is the only registered marriage of my father On all the birth certificates of my father and Francis's she is stated as his wife married 1920 in Perth Western Australia but there are no records of a marriage. She has used two different maiden names Davidson and Denton (this is only on the youngest daughters) The last time, that she was known to be seen by the family was in about 1932..So where she came from and how and where her and my father met is unknown..

Hi ,
A couple of thoughts here.

An online tree notes a marriage between Frances and William Carter KEARSLEY as 2 Sep 1924 in Western Australia. It is undocumented and it may be a misleading and erroneous ploy to place the birth of their first child inside a marriage.

Like you, I do not see a marriage at all.
In my experience, the impediment to marriage is usually that one or the other of the parties is already married. Reluctant to commit bigamy.

It seems that 1899 as seen on his ww2 papers and the immigration record was William's true birthdate so he was a few years younger than Frances, who, as I understand things, was born 1894 and who also uses her mother’s maiden surname as her own at times.
