Robert arrived in Fremantle in 1952

He gave his address as Peace Street, Boxhill (South) Melbourne.

He was aged in his 50s when he arrived in Australia. Do you know if there had been a marriage in Scotland?

Robert did have family in Victoria they are his nieces from his sister Mary BRYDEN who married William WATT.
They emigrated with their husbands and children at various times from the late 1940's.

Margaret Bryden WATT m. Hugh MCCARTNEY in Scotland.
Margaret Bryden Watt MCCARTNEY d. 27 Jul 1992 age 84yrs.
Parents: William WATT and Mary BRYDEN.
Hugh MCCARTNEY d. 12 Oct 1966 age 66yrs.
Parents: Hugh MCCARTNEY and Diana SUTHERLAND

Aunt Meg was his neice, Meg, Jean and Mary and their families went over to Australia in the late 50s. Maybe Robert was a lodger in between moving homes…

No, they didn't. They arrived 1949, 1950 and 1956.
