Thanks for the fantastic followups, Sandra. That is very interesting about Matthew McWhinney being the guardians of the Johnson children. As per findagrave, Matthew's mother-in-law was Elizabeth Anderson nee Johnson, possibly Johnston. That will be an interesting puzzle to solve. I  see Matthew and wife Sarah had three daughters in 1850, maybe more later. Maybe one of them married a Johnson/Johnston. Just a thought.
Great to have a wife for J. William Johnston who died 1968.

I am sure you have found the correct date of death for Jane Orr's brother Samuel. It all fits with Samuel  born abt 1840 and Jane abt 1834. Jane's obit also mentions a sister Mrs George W. Heitt but I didn't find George on findagrave. Nor did I find a Heitt at all on findagrave when searching without a first name.

Sounds quite possible until you look at the age. Elizabeth was 82 in 1947 so born abt 1865. Siblings were born 1834 and 1840. Then we see the parents,so definitely not. Father would have to be Orr/Ore.
I have been looking for the Johnson children as well, who had Matthew McWhinney as a guardian in 1885.

I think I have found the elusive Mrs. George w. Hiett. She was Margaret Hiett, divorced, who died Apr 18, 1913 in Pittsburgh. Nana Green was the informant at her death. Margaret’s father was George and if I found the correct family in 1850, her mother was Jane.

In 1850, Margaret was 8. Margaret had a first husband Hiram DeArman who died 1876.

I think I have found the death of Jane’s brother Samuel in 1908 instead of 1906. His father is George and his mother is Jane McClelland. Fits with the 1850 census which had Jane age 15, Margaret age 8 and Samuel age 5.
