Rachel Jones Newport

Hi all, in the 1881 census it has one of my great Aunts Rachel Jones who was at St Julians brick yard Christchurch. She was with her parents John and Rachel aged 2. She is not with them in 1891 but there is a Rachel of the right age living in Upper Raglan st. I can’t find her after this but there are several marriages towards the end of the 1890’s. Anyone have better eyes than me please, Phil

Her father John JONES says in 1911 that he has had 8 children, 7 living and 1 died - do you know which child died?

Hi Maddy, on freebmd I can’t find a death that fits with Rachel but found one for Henry in 1892 aged 11, Phil

Rachel and Henry missing from 1901.   I can't see an eighth child either on GRO or census.

Thank you Rosie. That’s very interesting. In all the years I’ve been trying to unravel this part of my family I’ve never seen a Mary Elizabeth. I have a birth certificate for Ellen or Nellie but she is Margaret’s daughter. The informant is A Jones. I don’t know who that is either, Phil.

Hi Osprey, do you mean the Barry marriage? I’ve got a copy of Isabellas birth certificate with Ann nee Williams and William Jones as her parents. I’ve since got a DNA match with Ann Williams. I’d forgotten that I had already started looking for Rachel later. I can’t believe that John Jones was the only one of them to have had children, Phil.
