Janet Hynd of Roughrigg (d. 1881)
« on: Saturday 02 November 24 07:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I’m looking for a burial place for my 4x great gran, Janet Hynd, who passed on 25 November 1881 (aged 80) in mining town of Roughrigg near Longriggend. She lived with her son, William and daughter-in-law, Mary.

Burial ground records are mostly in the care of the local authority, in this case now North Lanarkshire Council. Suggest asking them. In the event that it could be in a cemetery they don't manage, they will know who does manage it.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

When and where did her husband die?

Peter died 1834 in Bathgate.

I emailed them in February 2017, they advised that she was not buried in Airdrie.

In that case, and since she was apparently not buried in Airdrie, you could tey again asking if she is buried anywhere else in the present North Lanarkshire area, and whether or not there are any private cemeteries where she might have been buried.

Also try West Lothian Council to ask if she was buried in West Lothian.

She may be buried in Airdrie, but in a churchyard that the records no longer exist.

Quite right Sancti, she could have been buried in Clarkston churchyard or, depending on her religion, any of the 3 other kirkyards within Airdrie burgh, not to mention the New Monkland parish burial ground at Glenmavis. She may even be in the parish kirkyard of Slamannan, although it was not her parish of residence, it was probably the closest burial ground. I'm not too familiar with the Caldercruix area, I wonder if there was a burial ground there?
My guess would be Glenmavis, she may be interred with her parents but the original poster does not supply her maiden surname, which may have helped.
