John Andrew Williams death
« on: Saturday 24 May 25 18:26 BST (UK) »
My great grandfather lived the latter part of his life in Great Yarmouth. He was born in Ireland and I've never found a birth record for him and probably never will. I have been trying to find any record of his death but I seem to have hit a brick wall. From the census records he moved to Great Yarmouth at some time between 1881 and 1891. He moved house between 1891 and 1901. The last census shows the sub registration District as Gorleston, and the registration district as Yarmouth. He doesn't appear in the 1911 census or 1921 census. I've searched Ancestry, Family Search, Irish Genealogy, Newspaper archives, Free BMD, the GRO, find a grave and Google.  Each time I've drawn a blank. Is there anywhere else I could search, or could someone search for me? Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you ruled out the John A Williams death registered in the Isle of Wight, Q4 1910, age 70?

The associated Find a Grave entry has him in Shanklin Cemetery as John Andrew Williams, died Dec 28th 1910 (no photo).

Yes, thank you, I saw that one. That's not my ancestor I'm afraid.

He would have been 65 in 1906 but I think I'll order the record and check it out. Someone may have been having a bad day and put the wrong age in.

May I kindly ask how you know this is not your John, also do you have either of his marriage certs to the Gill sisters which should name his father,

A tree on A***y,—possibly belonging to the OP—has his father as William Campbell Williams, 1799-, but there isn’t any supporting evidence that I can see.

I have copies of both marriage certificates. His father was born William Williams and he was a Dublin solicitor. He later adopted the first name Campbell as there were three other people in the legal profession in Dublin with the name William Williams. Four would have been too confusing.
I spent some time researching this one and he had a different wife to my great grandmother. John Andrew only married twice.
