Hi, can anybody help? I'm interested in two marriages, both involving a Ronald Davies. They both take place in Oldham, one in 1943 to a Margaret R Bryson. The other is in 1945 to a Martha A Fishwick.

I can find them in Ancestry, but I would need to order the certificates which I can't afford at the minute  :P

I was wondering if anyone would be able to find anything out about either/both of these weddings?

Cheers

Occupation Interests / News Reporting Brothers
« on: Friday 24 February 17 17:30 GMT (UK)  »
My great grandfather William George Phillips and his brother John H Phillips are both listed as News reporters/Journalists in the 1901 and 1911 censuses respectively. I was really hoping to find out more about their journalistic careers. Anything at all that I can go on.

Here is all I know about the brothers...

William George Phillips

B: Abt 1879, Devonport/Stoke Damerel
Mother: Rosina Jope
Father: William Moyse Phillips
Spouse: Martha Hannah Turner
Married: 1902/1903 Birkenhead

Sometime between 1881 and 1891 the family move from Devon to Liverpool. William George Phillips dies between 1908 and 1911 around the Birkenhead area.

John H Phillips

B: Abt 1891, Liverpool
Same mother and father

Not much else is known about John H.

Any help or suggestions welcome...

World War Two / Samuel William Davies Att.Papers
« on: Tuesday 27 December 16 20:18 GMT (UK)  »
I found the attestation papers for my g grandfather Samuel William Davies.

I found them on one of the more well known genealogy sites (not sure if I'm allowed to mention by name on here?). Under the category "Royal Artillery Attestation papers 1883-1942". His service number is 1474430.

Was wondering if anyone could have a look for me and maybe give me an idea of what sort of info is given?

Thanks

Lanarkshire / Dochertys of Richard Street
« on: Monday 19 December 16 16:26 GMT (UK)  »
Just had a quick question. My ancestor John Docherty (whose parents are Daniel Docherty and Mary Mcdiarmid) is living at 49 Richard street near the Anderston area in the 1871 Census with his own family. In the 1855 valuation rolls, there is a Daniel Docherty who is the tenant and occupier of 49 Richard Street. So far so good!

The thing thats confusing me is that I can find no Dochertys living at 49 Richard street between these two dates, might have expected to have found them there in the 51 or 61 censuses?

The only thing I wondered was that maybe 49 Richard street was a tenement building and so is just an unconnected coincidence that both Daniel and John both lived there some 16 years apart.

The Common Room / Death Cert's Post 1969

I've read that since 1969, a location for the deceased's birth is included on any given death certificate. Is this usually only to the level of a certain county or is the information more precise? (districts or street addresses)

The Common Room / Help finding Marriage of Sml Wm Davies & Dthy Phillips

I just applied for the maternity records for my maternal grandfather who was born in 1928. Does anyone know wat sort of information they might contain. I'm hoping to get the ages of his parents, does this sound like a reasonable expectation?
