Canada / Canadian WW2 records
« on: Saturday 05 August 23 15:09 BST (UK)  »
Is it possible to obtain a copy of my uncles RCAF service records from WW2?
He is long deceased, as is his wife, no children.

Thank you, Linda

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / 1861 census lookup, LANE

I’m looking for Thomas and Mary Ann Lane - Thomas b. 1816, Cambridgeshire, Mary Ann b. 1820 in Richmond, Surrey.

They married in 1841 in Haggerston, Shoreditch, and in 1851 they were living at Pratts Lane, Hackney, Thomas is a carman.

I can’t find them in 1861?

Thanks, Linda

Australia / Goodna Asylum for the insane, admission records
« on: Monday 27 February 23 15:21 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the admission records for Goodna, around 1888-1891 - are these available online?  I have looked at the Archives website and couldn’t find anything obvious?

My ancestor Walter Ward arrived in Mackay, from England, in 1888, age 21, along with his brother Barling. Barling returned to England in 1891, and in his notes is a reference to a brother in Australia being in an asylum, presumably Walter.

Thank you, Linda

Australia / Electoral Roll, York, W.A.
« on: Sunday 19 February 23 23:55 GMT (UK)  »
Could I ask for a lookup for John Ward in York, W.A. He died in Claremont in 1927, but an announcement in the newspaper re his estate states he was formerly of York.

Not sure if this is enough information for a lookup?

Thanks, Linda

Australia / Old Men’s Home, Claremont, Western Australia
« on: Saturday 18 February 23 14:12 GMT (UK)  »
I have a relative, John Ward, dying in the above place in 1927. He arrived in Fremantle, from England, in 1886. From his death certificate it appears he never married, or had children.
The W.A. Archives seem to have admission files on the home, and I have emailed them, but haven’t received a reply yet.

I wondered if there would be any other kind of Directories, Electoral Rolls that might indicate how long he had been in Claremont?

Thank you, Linda, Ontario, Canada

Kent Lookup Requests / WARD - a challenge….
« on: Sunday 29 January 23 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
Albert WARD b. 1868, Chilham to John and Lucy. He married Emily Horton and is shown in 1901 with her in Chilham.
Emily dies in 1903 (shown as Emily Horton Ward) and Albert remarries in 1904 to Sylvia Frost.
1911 census of Pimps Cottages, Tovil, nr. Maidstone shows Bert Ward, 41, Waggoner, b. Chilham and wife Sylvia, 36, b. Petworth, Sussex. They had one living child who doesn’t appear with them.
I can find nothing of Bert and Sylvia beyond 1911. No obvious death, or future census. Albert is a common name, but Sylvia isn’t!
Can anyone with a fresh pair of eyes find them?😂😂

Australia / Death certificate application, Western Australia
« on: Sunday 22 January 23 18:49 GMT (UK)  »
I have found a death certificate I would like to apply for, but I am a bit confused on which one to order, and even if I can. There seems to be a lot of options?

It’s for a brother of my great grandmas, in 1927.  I would be applying from Canada.

Thanks, Linda

Australia Resources & Offers / WARD, McKay, Queensland
« on: Saturday 21 January 23 16:58 GMT (UK)  »
I’m looking for the whereabouts of Walter Ward, born 1867, Kent, England. He landed in McKay, May 28, 1888, with his brother Barling, on board the Quetta, via an assisted emigration scheme.

Barling returned to England, but no trace of Walter.

Any suggestions? I’m unfamiliar with what’s available to search in Australia - I’m in Canada.

Thanks, Linda
